Discover the pleasure of panoramic views of lake, forest and mountain from the back of a sturdy Connemara Pony or Irish Sport Horse.  Castles, Ringforts and Abbeys are amongst the historic features of this forest landscape and many of these can be visited en route.

At Ashford Equestrian Centre we cater for complete beginners, families with young children, as well as experienced riders who may enjoy a fast canter amid breath taking lakeshore scenery. If outdoor jumping or hunting is more your thing this can be arranged in season with prior notice.

We are open to the general public and offer riding lessons to holiday makers, local children and adults.  Facilities include a large outdoor arena, indoor arena and twenty stables. We are open 7 days a week.  Appointments can be made from 9.00am through until 4.00pm and are recommended although we will try to accommodate 'drop in' business.

Other activities available include archery, clay pigeon shooting, bike hire and guided tours, archaeological tours, kayaking, water-skiing and powerboat charter.

Our location is on the Ashford Castle Estate, next to the island village of Cong on the Galway/Mayo border in Western Ireland. Nestled between the great lakes of Lough Corrib and Lough Mask, Cong is the natural gateway to Connemara. We are only a 45 minute drive north of Galway city and a 45 minute drive south of Westport, Co. Mayo. Ireland West Airport Knock is less than an hour’s drive away.
